New Township Clerk
WELCOME to our new Township Clerk Monica Whitburn. She is available by email at clerk@vassartownship.org, or by call/text at (989) 660-5522. She will be in office on Wednesdays from 9am to 1pm and by appointment.
Monica is now a Certified Public Notary. Vassar Township residents have use of this service during the Clerk’s regular office hours which are from 9AM-1PM on Wednesdays and by appointment. Contact the Clerk directly to make an appointment.
Out Of Office Notices:
The Clerk will be out of office starting March 11, 2026 through March 18, 2026.
The Admin Assistant will be out of office on March 11, 2026 and March 16, 2026.
Tornado Sirens
Tornado sirens have been installed at 3 locations in Vassar Township. Locations are Vassar Township Park, Hanes Rd between Caine and Oak, and Ormes Rd between M15 and Vassar Rd. These sirens are monitored by the National Weather Service and are signaled to sound by the NWS.
Vassar Township is currently accepting applications for the position of Marijuana Coordinator. This position is responsible for administering and overseeing the Township’s marijuana licensing and regulatory program and ensuring compliance with applicable Township ordinances and State of Michigan regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Administer and oversee the Township’s marijuana licensing and regulatory program.
• Review, process, and maintain records for all marijuana establishment license applications, renewals, and amendments.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Township and the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency regarding licensing, regulatory compliance, and operational matters.
• Ensure marijuana establishments operating within the Township comply with all applicable Township ordinances, zoning requirements, and state regulations.
• Maintain organized records of licenses, permits, inspections, communications, and compliance documentation.
• Monitor changes to state marijuana laws and regulatory guidance and advise Township leadership on impacts to local ordinances or procedures.
• Prepare reports, summaries, and updates for Township Planning Commission and the Township Board regarding marijuana licensing activity and regulatory matters.
• Respond to inquiries from applicants, license holders, residents, and stakeholders regarding Township marijuana regulations.
• Facilitate communication between marijuana establishments and Township officials to ensure regulatory clarity and compliance.
• Maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality when handling regulatory and licensing matters.
• Attend Township Board and Planning Commission meetings as needed to present updates and provide information regarding marijuana licensing, compliance, and regulatory matters
Qualified candidates should possess strong organizational, communication and time management skills along with the ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, Township officials, and the public.
Salary is competitive and will be based off experience and qualifications
